Out of Westfield, IN, 20-year-old Tanner Holwerda started racing at just six years old in Go-Karts and immediately knew he had a passion for the sport. After proving his talent with many wins and podium finishes, Tanner moved up to Quarter Midgets. Here, he decided that oval racing was his niche. He competed in the Midwest Thunder regional racing series where he racked up
even more wins. In 2020, Tanner made the jump to Micro Sprint Cars. He raced in the Fast Friday series where he faced tough challenges and even tougher competition. After working hard with his team, Tanner accomplished many podium finishes and along with a few wins over the years. He looks forward to continuing in the Micro Sprint Car in 2026 as he competes at dirt racetracks
in OK, TX, KS, NE, IL, and IN. Tanner has been working hard and is determined to build a career in the sport. His next steps include racing Midgets, Late Models, and Super Late Models as he works his way up to NASCAR.
The 2025 season was one where I got reacquainted with racing after missing the 2024 season due to a torn labrum in the first race and needing surgery. I was excited to race again and is the case with most racers, I had my ups and downs. The first few races did not go as planned as I got caught up in accidents or had a mechanical issue. Once we had the issues resolved, we hit the track again with a crazy fast car. The season ended with 1 win and several A-main starts.
With 2025 now in the rear-view mirror, we're starting to get prepared for 2026. The car will be completely torn down to inspect every nut, bolt, radius rod, etc. The engines will be sent to our builder for inspection and refresh. The car will get a fresh, new look for 2026 where my plan is to run the entire NOW600 National Series with races in KS, NE, OK, and TX. I also plan to race in IL and IN during NOW600 weekends.
